My vision as an artist is to provide affordable and original artwork. I offer a bespoke service to clients, that includes house visitations and colour consultations. Having trained traditionally at the renowned atelier founded by Charles Cecil in Florence, Italy, where I gained the best possible foundations in the technical aspects of drawing and painting, with particular attention to portraiture, I then went on to explore the world of contemporary art.
Over the years I have become fascinated by how colours react with one another and the behaviour of paint itself. I experiment with different mediums and use them in conjunction with each other to build texture, making my work appear tactile to the viewer. I want people to have the desire to touch my pieces and therefore make a personal connection with my work. I have always been particularly concerned with light and dark, especially the play of light on water and the reflections in it. I enjoy contorting the natural phenomena of light through abstracting it, so in much of my work one can draw suggestions of buildings or sky reflected in water, like floating scenes in fantastical scapes.
I have realised that there is a gap in the market for bespoke and unique paintings at affordable prices, so I founded Lucy Kent, Bespoke Art, with an aim to provide this. I offer a free consultation with the client, to produce one-off pieces to fit in with their personal space and existing colour schemes. I like to think of it as collaboration between the two of us – a joint project to create something unique and personal to the client, which they can love. I aim to create art that connects to and reflects the environment in which it is hung. This unique service gives the client a chance to commission a one off piece that hangs in harmony with their home interior.
I partake in group exhibitions across the country and am in the process of building a portfolio of work for an upcoming solo exhibition. I also continue to take commissions for both domestic and commercial settings.
